National costume.
Designed and sewn by Victoria Syvertsen.
As someone who never wanted to look like anyone else; Victoria decided in 2018 to design and sew her own national costume. The costume is inspired by various different Norwegian national costumes, sewing techniques and traditions.
The skirt is made of cashmere wool, with a Viking detail; a “slynge snor” and a handsewn hem. The bodice is made of wool brocade with a velvet ribbon along the neckline. The shirt is make of linen with french seams on the inside and an embroidered detail along the cuffs and the collar. All the embroidery on the apron is inspired by cherry trees and different summer flowers, all made in hand-dyed silk thread.
